Zinc Coated Unistrut

Zinc Coated UnistrutWhen design engineers and plant managers are facing highly corrosive environments, they often specify Unistrut with a zinc coating.

Unistrut with a zinc coating can provide resistance to acids, salt, and other environmental factors that would cause uncoated Unistrut Channel to rust.Unistrut products are available in three types of zinc coatings:

  • Electroplated
  • Pregalvanized
  • Hot Dip Galvanized

A Zinc finish for Unistrut Channel offer two types of protection:Barrier: The zinc coating protects the steel substrate from direct contact with the environment.Sacrificial: The zinc coating will protect scratches, cut edges, etc. through an anodic sacrificial process. The service life of a zinc finish is directly related to the zinc coating thickness as shown below. Comparison of Zinc Galvanized Finishes

  • Hot Dip Galvanized 2.6 MIL
  • Pregalvanized .75 MIL
  • Electro-Galvanized .2 to .5 MIL
