This Unistrut light support uses P5501 to span the steel beams, with P1001 and P1000 making up most of the remainder.
Typical “grid system” for overhead equipment. Its versatile rail locations allow a solid support system for the equipment, but also allow mounting for overhead ductwork and electrical systems.
This picture shows a Unistrut support structure for a Physical Therapy Swing for a hospital in Wooster Ohio. It uses components that include P1001, P1000 and attaches to the building bar joists.
Typical radiology equipment support. Note the Unistrut designed and installed structural columns built within the building walls, allowing all structural steel members to be concealed.
Another typical grid system. This one for radiology equipment.
Structural steel support system for heavy service boom. This particular support is supporting a piece of equipment that weighs nearly 2,000 lbs, and has a moment load of nearly 10,000 ft-lbs. Strict design criteria set forth by the manufacturer requires less than .2 degrees (yes, that is correct, .2 degrees) of rotation under load.
Grid system for heavy Catheterization equipment “C-Arm”. Note the structural steel attaching to the building columns.

Image Set 2: Medical Support Framing Systems Utilizing the Hilti MI System
The Hilti MI Support System features rugged modular components capable of supporting heavy medical equipment while meeting the deflection and rotation criteria set by the manufacturer.
Unlike welded support structures, these heavy duty bracings can be adjusted in the field to ensure a perfect fit.
No cutting or welding means this support system can be installed without releasing dust, fumes, or other airborne contaminants into the hospital environment.
Working around existing MEP is easy. There is no need to reroute HVAC duct, electrical conduit, or plumbing.

Once the installation is complete, ceiling tiles are put in place for a clean, neat appearance.
The cost-effective Hilti MI system serves as a support structure for a heavy service boom in a hospital setting. The work required no welding or shut downs and was completed in one day.
